Amid the wind and snow, my free time has been spent hiding inside for most of this northern Indiana winter, working away on a brand new project for 2011. As the first post of the new year, I wanted to thank you all for your wonderful messages and comments I’ve received in the past and have continued to get throughout the Holidays. Your words have meant the world to my family and me and have helped us press on through the current tough times that everyone has been experiencing. I have been blessed with so much support from family, friends and listeners like you who have stuck by me in this journey, one that began right after my high school graduation, and today I am proud to announce that my third full-length album will be released sometime this year. (EXCITED! EXCITED! EXCITED!) The actual date is still up in the air, but August is the target month, and although we have only just begun to scratch the surface of the initial planning, there are a few things I am able to announce right away:
As 2009’s Goodnight to the Stars held a kind of urban, easy-pop feel, I have returned to my more natural, acoustic routes for the album to come. While some of the new tunes will continue to share a smooth, electric/alternative sound, the CD as a whole will be under the genre of new folk with a range of possibilities from “Mind of Your Own” to “Hey There, Boy” and “The Blue”.
Some listeners have already been asking for a track list, which has not been fully decided as of yet. (I did end up reaching my 2009 goal of writing over 100 usable songs, a stock pile of which is being looked over carefully.) While there is no list written in stone, I can say that the songs above are seriously being considered for this project. Others that will definitely make it onto the album are “Little Love Song”, “Strange”, “We Could Fly Above the Mountains” and the Celtic-flavored “Lilian”.
For the rest of winter and spring, I hope to become more involved with the Youtube world, posting more videos and music on my channel each month, something that will at least keep me from going crazy with excitement until the official release! I will do my best to update everyone on Twitter and this website. Until then, have an incredible season of fun and new beginnings.
