"When I look at the new artists on the Top 20 List, Adrienne Frailey stands out..."   --Kelley Martin, Host, Acoustic Pie, #1 Singer-Songwriter Station on Live365.com

"...Her voice is a blend of velvet and soul..." --Al Kniola, co-host, The Back Porch, WVPE-FM (NPR)

"...She is just plain tapped-in." --Andrew Calhoun, performer and founder, Waterbug Records

Summer is finally here, which means swimsuits, Popsicles, and for musicians... festivals! We were happy to begin this weekend with the Rochester Round Barn Festival. We had a nice stage and beautiful weather. Friday was the first of my scheduled festival concerts. It was also my second time playing for the town's big event, and I'm happy to say I am booked again for 2014.

With the Round Barn Festival Pageant Queen, Ericka Enyart, who introduced me on stage.

My tip jar. It was Mom's idea. :)

On Saturday, it was my first time performing at the Northern Indiana Lakes Festival in Warsaw. Pierceton's Ivory West, friend and fellow musician, played the set right after mine, and it was great to finally cross paths with her again after many months of our busy schedules. I got a hold of her new, all-original disc "The Chicago EP", which she recorded over her school breaks in the Windy City. Stop on over at iTunes and especially check out track 4: "Wine and Rain", my favorite on the EP.

The stage had Center Lake for the backdrop.

And finally, Sunday was my first performance at the Rhapsody in Green in Elkhart, Indiana. Our friend Al Fitch (drummer for the "New Eyes" single) joined us for the show. When it came to friendliness in music, I was blown away by Elkhart's hospitality and organization. I want to thank everyone who was involved with the entertainment and security at this event. I felt as if I was on vacation, and I hope to return in the future.

I'd like to extend my thanks to all of the parks and city chambers of commerce who hosted us over the weekend. We enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to the many festivals to follow.

Hey there listeners! Got some exciting updates for you.

NEW SONG:

That's right: I've released a fresh single to kickstart 2013. Take a listen in the yellow player on the left! Inspired by Kaleb Nation's latest series Harken, "New Eyes" crawls right into the book's conspiracy theories and describes how the main character, Michael Asher, must feel as everything he's known to be true gets turned upside down.

NEW PAGE:

The Harken Series (via adriennefrailey.com) is a place where I will be posting major news about Harken and furthermore, instrumental music inspired by the series, as I've done for books in the past. To find out more details on the series and the author, please visit: ReadHarken.com

Not that I haven’t been; Al Kniola at WVPE has been encouraging me to seek additional airplay for a long time.
So I did. From high in the Alaskan mountains to St. John's, Newfoundland, thanks to many stations for listening and playing!
I am grateful to Tinderbox Music (Minneapolis) for matching me with stations that fit my style, and presenting Definitely to them. My CD is currently getting airplay or has been added to the rotation in 34 states plus Washington DC and two Canadian provinces. I am happy to share my first station list for 2012--additional info to come. Many of these stations are using an internet stream. I would appreciate your requests (tell me about them, please) if you visit their site or find yourself in their locale. Thanks so much to the following stations and to all of the listeners for your support! (pre-2012 stations marked with *)

I want to thank these programs/stations (recent updates I *know* of) where my CD Definitely has arrived and is now getting airplay:

WXIN 90.7 FM at Rhode Island College Radio, Providence, RI; where Definitely was charting at #8 on their Top 30 most played albums.

**The following NEW stations are playing tracks:

KAOS 89.3 FM in Olympia, WA, and host Ace on the Wednesday Breakfast Special (6-9 am Wed.);

WBOI 89.1 FM (NPR) in Fort Wayne, IN, and host Julia Meek for including "Run Just Run" in a Sept. 2012 episode of Brave Journeys from her Folktales series.

WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, IL, and host Kevin Elliot of The Joshua Tree Inn (6-8pm Tues.). The song "We Could Fly Above the Mountains" was in the same show with Lee Murdock, LedZep and Yo-Yo Ma;

WERU 89.9 FM Blue Hill, Maine, and host Anne Wyecliffe of Musical Journeys (10 pm - 12 am Tues.);

WRPI 91.5 FM the Upstate Underground at Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, and host Howard Jack of Mostly Folk (6-8pm Sun.);

Acoustic Pie (San Diego, CA) the #1 Singer/Songwriter Station on Live365.com, and host Kelley Martin for playing "genre-defying acoustic" musicians. Three tracks---"Little Love Song", "My Gloomy Poem", and "The Blue"---made it into the eighteen songs (ten artists total) added Nov. 2011 to the 24/7 rotation. Other artists in that cut were Jennifer Leonhardt, Lucy Kaplansky, Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), and Colin Hay (Men at Work). I'm honored to have been placed with such company!

WNIT-TV Channel 34 (PBS) in South Bend, IN, and host Gordy Young of Experience Michiana, who invited me to tape some songs there this fall.

THANKS, everyone. I'm very appreciative for the new airplay!

I encourage my friends and listeners to support these local stations by listening. Please give them a FB "Like"---and make Adrienne-requests from the "Definitely" album! ;)

This was one of those tours where it seemed everything fell into place. :)

DAY ONE:

We started off at 8:20 Thursday morning, driving through Goshen up to the Toll Road, and our IZoom/EZPass box was one of the best things we've ever bought! We stopped for lunch from our cooler after Toledo and arrived in Cleveland by 3:00 in the afternoon with plenty of time for a setup. The Barking Spider Tavern was originally a carriage house to the house in front of it. It was undergoing work for a new concrete pavement in its courtyard.

After setup, Mom and I took a short walk to see the buildings in this "University Circle" district of town. (Case Western Reserve University). The Botanical Garden was nice outside and also prepared with a tent and lush table setting for some kind of party. We headed back to the Spider and filmed some of the show.

DAY TWO:

With our cooler iced-up, we set down the road the short distance into Stow then over to Kent. Kent is much smaller than I'd pictured. The marquee on the same block where I played was very impressive. My board was right out on the sidewalk in sight of the marvelous marquee at the Kent Stage. Bob and Cass Mayfield, the owners of the Gallery where I played, lease gallery space to Kent State and also have a framing shop and Black Squirrel gift shop in the building.

During the Festival, Folk Alley sponsors this free, Round Town event at many venues.

DAY THREE:

The Corner Coffee House in Frewsburg, New York is the kind of place every town should have. Joseph Glarner, who has a recording studio upstairs, opened the house this past March. Dave Lindquist is the chef of the CCH, and the food is unbelievably good. (I had the Asian stir-fry with fresh salmon.) They would like to open more locations. We left that night very happy and with an invitation to return soon.

DAY FOUR:

Jamestown, New York is the hometown of Lucille Ball and the crescent wrench. Lots of murals on the buildings are devoted to their Lucy.

We arrived at the Labyrinth Press Co. (shown below) on the last morning to begin a show at noon. This place had a raised stage that has a radio program each week. An entire collection of LPs was nearby. The menu was entirely vegetarian, and the wrap I chose was delicious and filling. A nice lady named Donna came especially to hear me after seeing my poster there and checking out my website. Finally we headed home, driving back through Pennsylvania and caught a beautiful view of Lake Erie. I'm looking forward to a trip like this again next year. Thank you to all who showed their support!

Ice cream should be a major food group. And I am fortunate to have two top-notch area ice cream parlors in awesome historic buildings, and they like music! In June and July I played at Sweet Creams Soda Shop in Elkhart. September’s concert calendar began with a morning at the Syracuse Farmers Market followed by Bonnie & Clyde’s Soda Shop in Bristol. (I ran into a local state congressman on the steps who said my singing reminds him of Jewel. Made my day.) More Farmers Market concerts this month included Syracuse (Sept. 8) and Elkhart (9/27). The Gateway Cellar Winery in Goshen is where I was the evening of Saturday, 9/8.

A farewell and big thanks to Bob Leininger of Bristol, who is moving soon. But first he played some tunes with me (9/1/12).

I'll return to the Elkhart Artwalk Wednesday, 9/26 to a site (TBA). As for this week, I leave for the 46th Annual Kent State Folk Festival in Kent OH this week. My venue is the KSU Downtown Gallery at 141 E. Main Street, Kent, 5-7 pm, Friday, 9/21, part of Folk Alley ‘Round Town: http://www.kentstatefolkfestival.org/roundtown.php?id=artist. Thanks to hosts/sponsors Bob and Cass Mayfield. My trip begins 9/20 at Cleveland’s Barking Spider* Tavern: http://www.barkingspidertavern.com/nextmonth.asp. The trip extends to western New York state: Frewsburg’s Corner Coffee House Saturday 9/22 from time TBA and 9/23 Sunday brunch noon-1:30 at the Labryinth Press Co. in Jamestown.  (*A barking spider is a metaphorical creature yet to be actually caught or seen—on which strange noises and foul odors can be blamed when there is no dog available. There is also the silent but deadly species that cannot bark....;]) lol

I am singing at three local annual festivals this month:

Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival in Ligonier IN (pre-1880) was on Sunday 9/9. I played in era costume on the stage then strolled the grounds singing in the afternoon. I’ve seen the old settlement for years from US33 and was excited to get to play there this year. Mom accompanyied me, also in the old attire. Many thanks to the Dekko Corporation of Kendallville as a sponsor. Thanks also to friends Dave and Joanne Taylor, Blue Pearl Antiques & Art (Pierceton), Darrell Carter (Cromwell) and my brother-in-law Gary Leer for all their help and advice. http://www.stonestrace.com/schedule-of-events.html.

Me in the pre-1880 outfit. After a few minutes of walking around, even before the show, I really felt like I was back in time. I was thankful for the modern bathroom, though! haha

Mid-month we rocked the 37th Annual Nappanee Apple Festival on Saturday, Sept. 15 in the Martin’s Supermarket tent with a BAND—Dad Drew, Mom Joy, and drummer-friend Allen Fitch from Goshen. http://www.nappaneeapplefestival.org/main.php?page=entertainment12 Program at: http://www.nappaneeapplefestival.org/forms/2012-AF-Brochure.pdf. Sincere thanks to my event sponsors Brad Newcomer and family at E. Newcomer and Son Jewelers (est. 1880). At 126 years in LOCAL business, they are the oldest continuous-family-owned (4th-generation) jewelry store in the state! Please visit them if you can, shop, and thank them for supporting this event—and my music.

Has anyone noticed the big orange pumpkin as Hwy US6 jogs north through Westville (IN)? Since I was little I have often seen a pumpkin there. It’s not Cinderella’s coach! Prairie Meadow Park there is where I’ll be playing for the 21st Annual Westville Pumpkin Festival. Many thanks to the town of Westville for inviting me!  Then I’ll head north later that afternoon to St. Joseph MI to return (3rd time in 2012) that evening 7-9 pm at the Chocolate Café and Museum.

AUGUST 2012

I have four hometowns. I was born in Goshen. My family lived in Elkhart until I was 2 ½  and I went to school there until I was five. I’ve grown up in Milford since 1992. And I went to Wawasee High School in Syracuse. So I’m always at home in Sweet Creams Soda Shop in Elkhart, where I played 8/10; the Artisans and Farmers Market in Syracuse; twice to the new Elkhart Farmers Market (where a painting has been named after me!); and Goshen Farmers Market, where wonderful things make me smile. This time a little girl danced like a ballerina to my misic and a little boy drew me a picture. In August I also sang at Sturgis, MI for a “Fun Friday;” at Middlebury United Methodist Church, Heirloom Tomato Festival in Pierceton, and St. Regis Club in Warsaw.

Above: My name in lights! Well, letters.

In August I returned to the public library in St. Joseph, MI and was delighted to see that a staff and volunteer force (Mary Czarnecki and Matt Finch) had set up a wonderful stage area in the garden. One passerby on the sidewalk heard my final song, stopped and bought a CD; and someone bought my CD Definitely with the comment that it was worth the price for “Lilian” alone. Michiganders, I love you for your appreciation of my music.

There were some one-of-a-kind events:

•  Michiana cancer survivors made moving presentations at the Sunny 101 Coaches vs. Cancer Vigil at the Heritage Square Martin’s Supermarket on August 9. I sang “Gabriel,” which I wrote in 2008 for the passing of our friend Gabe Merrill (South Bend) at the age of sixteen.

•  Indiana has a Folk Music Festival!  I appreciate being asked by *Lukas Simpson (Goldmine Pickers, Hard Travelin’ Boys, Red Hot Rivet, CheeseHeart) to play in his First Annual Folky Fish Fest at Lake Luther Campground (Angola) the last weekend in August. FFF was a great weekend in a perfect setting. I sang both Saturday and Sunday of this weekend celebration of folk music, camping and fishing. I saw fellow musicians AND got great one-on-one pointers in banjo and blues guitar methods.

I got some banjo pointers from Frank Lee of the Freight Hoppers. (8-25)

JULY 2012

July shows included a return to the Firefly Coffee House in Fort Wayne and my first trip to Bonnie and Clyde’s Soda Shop in Bristol.

I donned my engineer’s clothes to sing at Elkhart’s Lerner Theater for the Lakeshore RR Historical Foundation’s Fundraiser for the Mohawk 3001, the largest surviving New York Central RR steam locomotive. The fundraiser was timed with an Independence Day 70th Anniversary showing of Yankee Doodle Dandy, sponsored by Elkhart’s INOVA Federal Credit Union (7/3).

Coffee on the Piazza at Ruthmere was July 7. I LOVE this century-old mansion. Sadly, my performance may only be remembered by myself and a few brave attendees. Ozone levels from western forest fires, mixed with a “stagnant airmass” and record-high “dangerously hot temperatures” of 104° -107° made Ruthmere’s adjoining porch the ONLY place to be.  I do appreciate sponsors Starbucks, KeyBank, WVPE and Ruthmere for this opportunity. And thanks to Ruth Rockwell, Criss and Jennifer Rork, and those who came to support me and listen. Thank you, brave ones!!

Women didn't sweat in 1905 when Ruthmere was built; they GLOWED!

July 14 I shared a show with David “Hawkman” Hawkins of Lake Bluff IL We played at the Chocolate Café and Museum in St. Joseph, MI. You should check out David’s new CD, Hello, Mister Death and Other Love Songs at his website.

Hey There, Boy.                            David Hawkins, Big Boy, and me... in Stephensville, MI.

On the evening of July 18 I played 4-8 pm for my first Artwalk Wednesday. It was about 100° on the wraparound porch of the historic home at 112 Division Street—a prominent home on the same historic street my family lived on until I was two. Dan Spalding of the Elkhart Truth interviewed me about how my former neighborhood is revitalizing.

“it was beastly hot...we walked down division street and heard the voice of adrienne. I was bowled over...her voice is absolutely exceptional....I don't even know how to describe her voice but it is absolutely amazing...”—Shana D, Goshen, Indiana, via gig salad.com

Playing for a good cause on my Mom’s birthday 7/21, we went to F.O.P. Lodge #36 on the southwest side of South Bend for the 4th Annual Special OIympics Fundraiser and hog roast. It was fun to have THE (fantastic guitarman) Steve Foresman (who invited me) come and accompany us on stage.

On July 22 on the banks of the East Race, Celtic music resounded from the Fiddler’s Hearth Celtic Festival at Seitz Park in South Bend. Here is Youtube footage of some songs from that event, where I opened for Kennedy’s Kitchen.

”Dying Breath” with John Kenndy Jr

“The Parting Glass”

“Lakes of Ponchartrain”

“My Gloomy Poem”

JUNE 2012 Highlights

Here are some of the events where photos were taken. Regrettably, I have none from the Round Barn Festival (Rochester) or Martin’s Side Door Deli events.

Singing on the Stardust Stage to open for Elkhart’s Urban Renewal Band, Blue Chip Casino, June 1, 2012

At the Noodle Bar/Latitude Lounge (with the Cat tip jar.) xD      Terry Moran (left) and David Hawkins (right), June 2, 2012. No those guitars are not mine, but I wish!

Concert at Sweet Creams Soda Shop (Elkhart) with monTe micHel bLeu, June 9, 2012.

We saw baby buffaloes at the Annual Calf Day at Cook's Bison ranch in Wolcottville (6/16).

Elva Miller (LVD’s) asked me to open for Gravel Creek (bluegrass) for Middlebury Third Wednesday, June 15. Above, from left to right is Gravel Creek:Terry Engle, Jimmy Wilcox, Jay Taylor, Bill Adcock, Mike Rowe. Terry “Gravel” Engle, standup bass (player AND bass singer) passed away on 7-13-2012.

I spent most of Saturday 6/23 at Sweet Creams Soda Shop running sound during the 25th Annual Elkhart Jazz Festival. The day’s entertainment included Venitia Sekema (upper left), Jim and Rachel Bessmer (upper right) and the Bessmers. Bruce Bartlett (lower right) accompanied me on drums.

The U93 Roofsit is an annual event sponsored by my favorite Hits station for so many years now I rmember listening to it when I was little. I actually got to be a part of it on June 21. The Roofsit Candlelight Vigil was at the Heritage Square Martin’s Supermarket in Granger to support child abuse prevention. Here I am with Rob Sparks (“Rob and AJ Show,” U93).

The Charley Creek Artsfest (Wabash) at the end of June featured a liivng statue!

INTO FALL 2012

As September is now halfway through, I am looking forward to the many events that this fall will bring. Please check out the website calendar as concerts are constantly being added, now into 2013. I hope your summer has been a relaxing one, and until next time...

Thanks for reading. :)

There is also the silent but deadly species that cannot bark....;])
I am singing at three local annual festivals this month:
Stone’s Trace Pioneer Festival in Ligonier IN (pre-1980) is Sunday 9/9. I’ll be playing in era costume on the stage 11:25 am-12:10 pm, then strolling the grounds singing in the afternoon. I’ve seen the old settlement for years from US33. I’m excited to get to play there this year. Mom will be accompanying, and Dad might help with sound on the morning stage show. Then in the afternoon we walk the grounds and sing. Many thanks to the Dekko Corporation of Kendallville as a sponsor. Many thanks to friends Dave and Joanne Taylor, Blue Pearl Antiques & Art (Pierceton), Darrell Carter (Cromwell) and my brother-in-law Gary Leer for all their help and advice. http://www.stonestrace.com/schedule-of-events.html.
Mid-month we’ll be rocking the 37th Annual Nappanee Apple Festival on Saturday, Sept. 15 in the Martin’s Supermarket tent from 12 noon - 1:30 with a BAND—Dad Drew, Mom Joy, and drummer-friend Allen Fitch from Goshen. http://www.nappaneeapplefestival.org/main.php?page=entertainment12 Program at: http://www.nappaneeapplefestival.org/forms/2012-AF-Brochure.pdf.
Joseph MI to return (3rd time in 2012) that evening 7-9 pm at the Chocolate Café and Museum
CAPTION:
In August I returned to the public library in St. Joseph, MI and was delighted to see that a staff and volunteer force (Mary Czarnecki and Matt Finch) had set up a wonderful stage area in the garden. One passerby on the sidewalk heard my final song, stopped and bought a CD; and someone bought my CD Definitely with the comment that it was worth the price for “Lilian” alone. Michiganders, I love you for your appreciation of my music!
Left: My name in lights! Well, letters.
CAPTION:
CAPTION:
Women didn’t sweat in 1905 when Ruthmere was built; they GLOWED!!

Here is youtube footage of some songs from that event, where I opened for Kennedy’s Kitchen.

to release about June 3:
Thirty different vacations in a single summer—that’s what my concert schedule looks like. There are almost as many gigs squeezed in the coming four months as I got in all of last year. In settings from barns to mansions I’ll get to be a part of Midwest city and smalltown celebrations of all kinds. I hope you can come to some of these events! And I just got confirmation of a slot at the Kent State Folk Festival on 9/21. Sweet.
Thank goodness there are FIVE weekends in June. (To see the specific dates and times, hit the links in this article to go to my SCHEDULE page.) The first weekend I opened for an Elkhart group, Urban Renewal, at a private party in the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, IN. Continuing up the Illinois lakeshore to Lake Bluff, I shared a concert with Chicago singer-songwriter David Hawkins at the Noodle Bar Latitude Lounge. So many thinks to David and UR for those invitations!
This coming (second) weekend, there will be the Round Barn Festival (Rochester) and a joint concert with monTe micHel bLeu (yes, that’s the spelling) at Sweet Creams Soda Shop (Elkhart). You’re going to love his dobro (resonator guitar).
The middle weekend on Friday I’ll be returning to the Heritage Square Martin’s (Granger) Side Door Deli during lunch. That evening I open for Gravel Creek (they’re bluegrass) at the Middlebury Third Friday event. Saturday my parents join me for two sets at Cook’s Bison Ranch Spring Calf Day (Wolcottville). We’ll eat and take a wagon tour in-between to see the herd. Buffalo meat is better than any steak.
The fourth weekend has an event that I have listened to most of my life: the U93 Roofsit, an annual candlelight vigil to raise money for child abuse. Only this year (I’m still reeling) it will be ME singing for the crowd below, from the roof of the Heritage Square Martin’s (Granger). The two other acts are Mishawaka’s Christ the King Lutheran Choir and St. Bavo’s Catholic Boys Choir. Next day I  play outside Sweet Creams during the Jazz Festival (Elkhart).
The final weekend I am returning to the Charley Creek Arts Fest (Wabash), where in 2-3 roving sets (places to be announced) I will get to sit in some awesome historic homes.

Hey everyone!

I am pleased to announce that I will be making a special alum appearance in Riely O'Connor's Songwriters Spotlight show. As some of you know already, I had the honor of joining this awesome performance for the first time in 2010. Now, I'm overjoyed to be returning and look forward to meeting new people and sharing fresh originals with you.

Hey all!

As Ivory West has recently learned that she will be out of state on March 9th, 2012, our joint concert will instead take place on Saturday, April 21st at the Sweet Creams Soda Shop in Elkhart, IN. Also, the March 9th concert is now what I'd like to call "Adrienne and Friends". I look forward to the events! :)

I am fiercely happy for one of my favorite young authors, Bran Hambric's Kaleb Nation. Over the years, he has shown us all that Jiminy Cricket was indeed NOT lying when he told us, "If your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme"... with a heck of a lot of work!

For those of you who have yet to know of this talented Youtube personality, I'll let this link fill you in on the news, while I add more fun stuff to check out below. And to Kaleb: we Nationeers are so very proud of you. Congratulations and good luck on your journey. You know these are just the "opening credits". :)

From September 22nd to the 25th, I had the honor of being sponsored by local NPR DJ and friend Al Kniola ("The Back Porch" 88.1 FM, WVPE) for a three-day event in Bolingbrook (Chicago), Illinois. It was my first-ever FARM experience, and I had been invited to play two songs for the "Radio Presents" concert, where I was near to so many apt people in the "biz", including Bill and Kate Isles, Andrew Calhoun of Waterbug Records, Lou Berryman, David Tamulevich of Mustard's Retreat, Jim Bizer, Max and Ruth Bloomquist, Dave Humphreys, Rich Warren, and Joann Murdock. In a place where songwriting was the norm, I felt very much at home, thanks to everyone I met. Each night, there were rooms filled with music in open jams and private showcases, most times until 4 am. In one of those showcases, I was lucky enough to be hosted by Bill and Kate Isles, a well-known couple, and not to mention, all-around great people in the folk music realm. In addition, I was invited back to the Chicago area for Lilli Kuzma's "FARM Harvest", her live in-studio show at 90.9 FM, WDCB Public Radio, during which I had a fantastic time with other artists Jaime Michaels, Ben Sage, and Hall & Morgan. If at all possible, I hope to attend next year's FARM down in St. Louis! Thank you to everyone who made my experience a memorable one.

One of the songs I performed in the DJ showcase was "Little Love Song" from the new album Definitely.

The next night, I was elated to perform in Bill and Kate Isles' private showcase. This is the end of "Good Morning" from my 2009 album Goodnight to the Stars. Due to some battery issues, we had to use the back-up camera, but I certainly had a lot of fun. (And Katie Dahl, a very gifted singer-songwriter, happened to be in the same showcase slot!)

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to announce that the new 18-track album "Definitely" is available today at the official release concert and online at CD Baby, iTunes, and more.

definitely album adrienne frailey

The new album, which will have 18 songs, will be released on my birthday: September 10, 2011!

"How did I get so lucky to be Adrienne's recording engineer? Not only is she an amazing singer blessed with a warm, lovely voice; she creates these beautifully crafted songs. Adrienne's also a skilled arranger with a golden ear—she knows exactly what she wants to hear. On top of all that, she's a sweet, charming young woman. I hope to capture more of her great music in the future."
Bruce Bartlett (engineer, reviewer, inventor, author)

"Adrienne Frailey is a major talent... Her latest album "Definitely" is clear proof of that. Her beautiful lyrics could stand alone as poetry, her voice is a lovely blend of velvet and soul, and her melodies and arrangements are captivating. This is an album that deserves, and will receive, repeated play by all who own it... until it simply wears out. This young woman presents an incredibly seasoned and mature perspective to life as portrayed in her amazingly insightful lyrics - and the recording quality is exceptional. I hear many hundreds of new CD's every year and this one is, without question, one of the very best of them. Someday, I'm going to be so glad to say 'I knew her when'."
Al Kniola (co-host of "The Back Porch" on 88.1 FM, WVPE)

I am very excited to announce that, as promised, a brand-new CD is going to be released this year. Entitled Definitely, this 8-panel Digipak will be available at concerts and online in September 2011. A digital version of the album will also be available for download on iTunes, AmazonMP3, CD Baby, and more.

Since January, we have been working very hard at the Bartlett Recording studio, and I've never been more pleased with the sounds Bruce and I have brought together. Along with "Little Love Song", other listener favorites such as "Hey There Boy", "The Blue", and "Lilian" have made it onto the gigantic, all-original, tracklist; there will be 18 songs! Of course, you will hear plenty of new material alongside the old favorites, and I am looking forward to sharing this project with all of you when the time comes. Thanks for reading.

For the longest time, I've kept my main music source (other than my website) at Myspace.com. I just wanted to let everyone know that I have moved that page to Facebook.com and am currently in the process of closing my Myspace account. For those of you who would like to see the NEW page that I'm working on, please click here. Also, if you already have a Facebook account, I would greatly appreciate it if you "liked" the page and told your friends and families about it! :)

Amid the wind and snow, my free time has been spent hiding inside for most of this northern Indiana winter, working away on a brand new project for 2011. As the first post of the new year, I wanted to thank you all for your wonderful messages and comments I’ve received in the past and have continued to get throughout the Holidays. Your words have meant the world to my family and me and have helped us press on through the current tough times that everyone has been experiencing. I have been blessed with so much support from family, friends and listeners like you who have stuck by me in this journey, one that began right after my high school graduation, and today I am proud to announce that my third full-length album will be released sometime this year. (EXCITED! EXCITED! EXCITED!) The actual date is still up in the air, but August is the target month, and although we have only just begun to scratch the surface of the initial planning, there are a few things I am able to announce right away:
As 2009’s Goodnight to the Stars held a kind of urban, easy-pop feel, I have returned to my more natural, acoustic routes for the album to come. While some of the new tunes will continue to share a smooth, electric/alternative sound, the CD as a whole will be under the genre of new folk with a range of possibilities from “Mind of Your Own” to “Hey There, Boy” and “The Blue”.
Some listeners have already been asking for a track list, which has not been fully decided as of yet. (I did end up reaching my 2009 goal of writing over 100 usable songs, a stock pile of which is being looked over carefully.) While there is no list written in stone, I can say that the songs above are seriously being considered for this project. Others that will definitely make it onto the album are “Little Love Song”, “Strange”, “We Could Fly Above the Mountains” and the Celtic-flavored “Lilian”.
For the rest of winter and spring, I hope to become more involved with the Youtube world, posting more videos and music on my channel each month, something that will at least keep me from going crazy with excitement until the official release! I will do my best to update everyone on Twitter and this website. Until then, have an incredible season of fun and new beginnings.

First off, if you're on the mailing list, you may have noticed that there has not been a newsletter in a while. This is because most of my schedule has been filled with at-home work on the new album entitled The Key, which is a digital-only CD that will be released on October 10, 2010.

the key cover

In June, I returned to the Bartlett Recording studio where a fresh and challenging project was finished, and I am so excited to be introducing you guys to it this fall. The 14 new tracks, 13 of which are instrumentals, are inspired by a book called Bran Hambric: The Specter Key. This fun and adventurous story is the sequel to Kaleb Nation's debut novel, Bran Hambric: The Farfield Curse. Earlier this year, eight Bran-inspired tracks were put together for the first book, and now two favorites, "Dying Breath" and "Into the Moors", have been added to the October collection, making a total of 16 tracks for The Key.

Kaleb has continued to be wonderfully supportive in the creation of this project and in fact made it possible for the music to be created and produced before the official release of BH: The Specter Key, which is also October 10! As a special treat for his fantastic "Nationeers", Kaleb will be hosting a BlogTv party on the night of October 9, and so I urge you all to head over to this page early that day. *NOTE: Although there is no limit to how many people can view the live chat, there are only 150 people allowed in the main room where Kaleb can personally interact with your messages, and it does fill very quickly.

To keep you occupied until then, I have been posting promo material for the CD on my Youtube channel and here on adriennefrailey.com, while Kaleb has launched his "30 Days to Bran", a video and tweet log leading up to the double-release. If you are not subscribed to him on Youtube yet, you should be! I look forward to hearing your feedback, and if you'd like, please follow me on Twitter to get these updates as they happen. Thank you so much for reading!

Hey all,

Great news! Two NEW pages have recently been created here at AdrienneFrailey.com. Check it out:

Merch

The Merch page is taking the place of the CD Releases page. The new one has a few improvements, like product details and links to online stores.

Blog

The Blog page has been created with the hopes of separating the important news that belongs on the Home page and the fun blogging/vlogging that I'll be doing more of in the near future. The Blog page will soon be the home for videos of my family, friends, and life in general, which will definitely include music! These blogs will also have a place for all of you to comment and share your thoughts. (I am however, still working on getting the video codes to work there. On Friday, January 8, we were given the privilege of performing at Modoc's Market in downtown Wabash, Indiana. I want to especially thank Mike and Angie Beauchamp for the booking, Terry LeMaster at The Noisemaker for first telling us about this fantastic place, and all of you came in from the cold to listen. We hope to be back at Modoc's soon!

Hey everyone!

I'm so excited to announce that my first television debut will be on Hometown Pickin', the local cable show in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This show airs Thursdays from 5:00-6:00 PM on Channel 20 of the Public Media Network. (There is a total of six stations throughout Western Michigan that air this show; different times, depending on the station.) Although the performance itself will be an unedited live concert, the show will actually be airing the month after it's recorded. (This means I'll be on TV in February 2010.) If you aren't in the area where this show can be seen, I will post links to where you can watch online, and if possible, I will upload some bits onto my website. Since this event is a ways away, I will keep you guys updated as much as I can via Twitter, Myspace, and this website.

Thank you, everyone who came to the event and supported us in the cold. We enjoyed performing, even though our fingers had a tough time working. (Haha) Here are a few pictures from Saturday's event. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 Community Artisan and Farmers Summer Market Syracuse, IN.

October 3 and 4, 2009 Apple Festival of Kendallville Location: Main Street Fair Kendallville, IN Over the course of the weekend, we performed a total of three sets of music with a 19th-century feel, right after our long-time friends, Dick and Nita Robinett of "Cottonwood", the talented folk duo from North Webster, Indiana.

In between our performances, we got to watch our other friends, the wonderfully entertaining Dan Barth (Doc Barth's "Natural Remedies" Medicine Show) and Chris Vallillo (singer/songwriter/musician) share a stage for two historically educational shows.

While in town, we stopped in at Christianson Jewelry Inc. and said hello to Dave, who has supported us and our music for quite a few years now. We thank him for providing hot coffee and a place to keep warm. =) Thank you, everyone who tried to bare the cold with us. Although the weather was rough, we hope to be back again for the Fraileys' 8th year at the Kendallville Apple Festival.

The 5' tall metal chicken, which is possibly taller than that, on the roof of Homestead's Backyard Grille was birdnapped! Police have recovered the victim, who suffered a bit of damage, but it has been reported that she will not be returning to work as soon as we'd hoped. So those of you looking for this landmark may not be able to find it for a while. **Heavy sarcasm, but true story nonetheless.** July 23rd event, still on!

Adrienne

Hi all,

Since my CDs arrived on my doorstep on Thursday the 9th, I've been waiting for an email regarding the set-up of a CD Baby account. This account will make physical CDs available to customers online; it will also connect me with iTunes and other popular online music stores, making digital downloads available as well. I checked my email today and had a message waiting from CD Baby, telling me that it may take a little longer than expected:

"Dear Adrienne... ...You are probably aware that CD Baby recently underwent an enormous redesign and changeover to a new tracking system. The results of these changes mean bigger and better opportunities for you as a CD Baby artist..." It goes on to say that: "...Unfortunately, due to the administrative and technical issues involved with converting the massive CD Baby library to the new system, there is a delay in processing new artists and titles. Our best estimation is that it will take an additional two weeks to get your title processed and posted for sale on CD Baby. We apologize for the inconvenience, and are doing everything we can to facilitate CD Baby's efforts and to streamline registration to ensure all new titles are processed as quickly as possible. We will keep you informed of their progress and will let you know as soon as your title is online and ready for purchase."

I'm very pleased that CD Baby contacted me shortly after the delay had begun; they hadn't expected ME to call THEM first, which I would have done later, had I not received this message today. Anyway, as you just read, CD Baby and the online music stores connected to CD Baby will be selling my material soon! I'll keep you updated. In the mean time, you can check out my page at DigStation.com --- the first online music store to have Goodnight to the Stars available.
